Now, the next chapter in the MandoVerse will be written when the standalone Ahsoka series finally hits the streaming platform next year. According to the latest rumors, the Rosario Dawson-led project will serve as the continuation of the Star Wars Rebels animated series with notable characters from the show reportedly joining the project.

One Rebels character who's confirmed to be making her live-action debut is Sabine Wren played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo. Bordizzo's casting was announced late last year and things were made official when she appeared alongside Dawson at the Star Wars Celebration last May.

The 27-year-old Australian actress is incredibly thrilled to be joining the show but according to her, she had initial doubts about her involvement simply because her casting happened so fast. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the actress shares: "It was a very, very quick process. I was suspicious! I was like, ‘Wait, I have the offer for this?’ I met Jon Favreau later, and he was basically like, ‘I get it. I’m an actor. I don’t want to put you through the wringer, and I don’t want to make you do a million takes and auditions and tests. We know we want you, and that’s it.’ I really appreciated that."

Star Wars didn't have its own panel at SDCC and as it stands, we still have no clue when Lucasfilm plans to drop the show's trailer. However, with D23 Expo just around the corner, it's safe to assume that Lucasfilm will be giving fans updates about the show and the future of the franchise in general.

Ahsoka is expected to hit Disney+ in 2023.
