Agatha All Along showrunner Jac Schaeffer opened up about her decision to not show Wanda Maximoff's face when her corpse was spotted in episode 1.

The new MCU series deals with Agatha Harkness' next adventure in Westview years after the events of WandaVision and the aftermath of the Scarlet Witch's presumed "death" in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Earlier in the first episode, we saw Agatha (as police detective Agnes O'Connor) investigate the murder case of a "Jane Doe" who was eventually identified as the corpse of Wanda Maximoff.

However, we never saw Elizabeth Olsen's face when they were showing her body, which is an interesting creative choice for fans as some of them were hoping that we would get a glimpse of the actress' likeness.

Schaeffer was asked in a recent interview why they decided to not show Wanda's face when they depicted her corpse in Agatha All Along episode 1.

She explained that it was a deliberate creative choice as they didn't want to take any attention from Kathryn Hahn as the show's lead.

"You know, that’s a really hard question to answer. It was never the plan to show her face — both stylistically, and because this show isn’t her story," the showrunner said.

"[It] was really about [how] when the body is turned over, the camera’s on Agatha’s face. That’s really where our attention is, and where the focus of the show is."

While it would have been a great treat for fans to see Olsen's likeness in the series, you can argue that it was a better choice to not show her face and fans can easily imagine her as Wanda just by the clothing and the descriptions that they made.

Despite that, it doesn't rule out any possibility of Olsen making a cameo later in the series as they could still find a way to have her surprisingly appear in some capacity.

It is interesting to see whether Wanda's corpse will be addressed further in the later episodes or if it's all just an easter egg to establish the connection to WandaVision.

New episodes of Agatha All Along premiere every Wednesday night on Disney+.
