If you're a long time fan of Adventure Time, you're probably aware of the implied relationship between Princess Bubblegum and Marceline. This was mostly subtext but the first major clue came during Marceline's song I'm Just Your Problem during the third season of the series and had been expanded upon since, though never officially confirmed.
However, during the finale of Adventure Time, the creators finally gave in and confirmed that the two have feelings for each other; with a kiss.
For context, the ending of the epic war with GOLB made it seem like Bubblegum fell during one of his demonic attacks, leading to Marceline losing it and going on a rampage. As soon as she finds out Bubblegum is safe, they reunite and finally have the on-screen kiss fans have wanted to see for the longest time.
With the series officially ending, fans might feel sad that they won't get to see Marceline and the Princess explore their relationship more. Thankfully, Boom Studios just announced that they will continue the series via an official season 11 comic book of Adventure Time, similar to how Buffy the Vampire Slayer continued after the eighth season finished.
As a lapsed fan of Adventure Time, I'm glad they finally confirmed the relationship. With Steven Universe also exploring LGBT themes, it's nice seeing Cartoon Network give their creators this much freedom.
