Adam Driver Talks Life After 'The Force Awakens', Shares Brief Update About Star Wars: Episode VIII

Kylo Ren actor Adam Driver was taking part in a Q&A, hosted by Entertainment Weekly to discuss his latest sci-fi film Midnight Run, and of course, he was asked about Star Wars. Driver will return as Ben Solo/Kylo Ren in Star Wars: Episode VIII, and although he's not allowed to reveal a lot about the highly-anticipated sequel, Driver gave a quick update, saying that they're in the middle of filming and that "They're still at war. It's still Star Wars. They're not at peace."

When asked if the success of

The Force Awakens

had changed him, Driver said:

"I didn't turn into a new person. Nothing happened to me. But a lot of people saw it, and that was good. I guess my Christmas is kind of easier now – the toys and things for family. Kids is a big thing: I feel like before parents kept me away from their kids; now it's like, go get a picture."

When asked about the differences between The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams and Episode VIII director Rian Johnson, he said:

"Their temperaments are different. I feel like there was so many moving pieces in the first one – just trying to solve it and set the vocabulary for what it was. There's a lot of that anxiety is gone, because people have developed a language. I think it's more of a testament to Rian coming into something very established and making it [his own]. I can't wait to get on set, just because he's so unassuming and intelligent and approachable. The script they've come up with is really great."

It doesn't sound like Driver has filmed a lot of scenes from

Episode VIII

. They're probably focused on filming scenes with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Rey (Daisy Ridley).

Star Wars: Episode VIII

will be released in thaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
