ABC President On Whether Disney+ Will Be The Only Home For Star Wars And Marvel Content

For the past few years, online streaming sites like Netflix and Hulu have been changing the face of the entertainment industry, bringing more and more viewers to come to rely on streaming content online.

Now, Disney wants in on the game, and the Mickey Mouse House is planning to launch its very own streaming site Disney+ this month.

Disney's even been preparing all-new Star Wars and Marvel series for its site. Right now Lucasfilm is working on StarWars: The Mandalorian, a live-action series produced by Iron Man director Jon Favreau. Meanwhile, Marvel Studios is creating series for characters without their own standalone movies like Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch.

With so much content being prepared for Disney+, fans have started wondering whether they'd get to see other Marvel and Star Wars series on network TV and or other outlets.

Despite their many concerns, ABC entertainment president Karey Burke is certain that the network will still have its Marvel series.

We have our own long-standing relationship with Marvel, and I'm in active conversations with Jeph Loeb about what future projects are going to look like here that will live outside of Disney+. Star Wars is more challenging but not impossible," Burke said in an interview with Cinema Blend.

Right now, it doesn't seem like Disney has any intention of transferring long-standing ABC Marvel series like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to Disney+. However, the Mickey Mouse House has every intention of building up its site with major Star Wars and Marvel content, so maybe fans have to start considering whether or not they'd want a Disney+ subscription.
