ABC Is Now Working On A Bewitched Television Reboot

It looks like ABC's going to work on a reboot of the classic 1960's show Bewitched, and this time, the network is going to feature a biracial family in its new series.

According to a new report by Deadline, ABC has just greenlit the pilot production of a Bewitched reboot by the Black-ish creator, Keny Barris. Together with Black-ish writer and producer Yamara Taylor, Barris will write the script for the series' pilot which will feature a bi-racial family made up of the "hard-working black single mother," and witch Samantha, as well as her human husband Darren, a tall white man described as "a bit of a slacker."

In the series fans are going to see the couple try to work out their differences when Samantha realizes that while she has the power to use magic, "she's still not as powerful as a decently tall white man with a full head of hair in America."

Though the biracial coupling does put an interesting and diverse spin on the series, the Bewitched reboot sounds pretty close to the original series which came out in 1964 where Samantha Stephens starts off as a lovely doting housewife who cares for her husband Darrin and her daughter Tabitha, but is also actually a witch who uses her magic to fix the problems of her family. Right now we're not sure whether or not the Bewitched reboot would include Tabitha, but we're hoping that the couple does get a child along the way.

The Bewitched reboot doesn't have a release date just yet but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
