A Silent Voice Is Returning to Cinemas in The US For a Limited Screening

It looks like anime fans are in for a treat next year because the anime film based off of Yoshitoko Oima's manga A Silent Voice is going to return to cinemas for a limited screening in 2019.

According to a new announcement by Eleven Arts, A Silent Voice (otherwise known as Koe no Kotachi) is going to make its way back to the big screen for a limited screening run in the US next year. Sharing a link of the cinemas the film is going to screen in, WTK writes that the Japanese-voiced and English subtitled version of A Silent Voice is set to screen on January 15, 2019. The film's dubbed version is set for screening two days after on November 17. Fans interested in the film can get tickets starting December 14 next month.

This new screening schedule for A Silent Voice gives American fans to opportunity to either revisit the popular anime teen drama movie produced by Kyoto Animation or to check out the film for the very first time. Anime movies are difficult to come by in the US and while A Silent Voice was made available on home video in the UK and in Japan, there hasn't been any legal way for American fans to watch the film in the US.

For those who aren't familiar with A Silent Voice, the feature-length anime movie focuses on the story of a schoolboy named Shoya who used to bully his deaf classmate, Shoko, in elementary. When the bullying goes south, he becomes ostracized and ends up being bullied by his class as well. When he runs into Shoko years after, the two try to heal together and build towards a better future.
