A Quiet Place Screenwriters Are Adapting Stephen King’s The BoogeyMan


It looks like Stephen King fans are getting even more movies because it looks like the writer's 1973 short story The Boogeyman is getting an onscreen adaptation by 20th Century Fox.

According to Deadline, Fox is currently finalizing a deal for The Boogeyman with A Quiet Place scribes Beck and Bryan Woods working on the script of the film and 21 laps' Dan Cohen and Shawn Levy Dan Levin producing the project.

First published in 1973 and later on released in his Night Shift collection in 1978, King's The Boogeyman story focuses on a man who recently lost all of his kids to some sort of creature hiding in his closet.

The story has been previously adapted by as a short film by filmmakers nearly 10 times, majorly because of the non-exclusive rights options for directors who couldn't afford the full price of a full-length project. This adaptation by Fox, however, will mark the first big-budget adaptation of The Boogeyman, adding to the list of King film adaptations that have successfully made their way to the big screen.

Everyone's been looking to have a taste of success after the blockbuster success of IT, the 2017 supernatural horror film based on King's novel and a lot of adaptations of the author's various work have begun development. There's been Castle Rock, IT: Chapter Two, The Stand, Sleeping Beauties, Pet Sematary, and more recently, The Boogeyman.
