Netflix hasn't announced any plans for a sequel yet, but given the show's massive success and popularity, it's likely that the company will green-light Squid Game Season 2. However, it depends on Hwang Dong-hyuk since the filmmaker is also busy working on other projects. The director told Variety that he doesn't have film plans for a second season.
"I don't have well-developed plans for Squid Game 2, it is quite tiring just thinking about it. But if I were to do it, I would certainly not do it alone. I'd consider using a writers' room and would want multiple experienced directors."
If you're not familiar with the series, Netflix has shared an official description for Squid Game:
"Hundreds of cash-strapped players accept a strange invitation to compete in children's games. Inside, a tempting prize awaits with deadly high stakes."
