- Quick Answer: Lanterns Season 1 sets up potential Season 2 storylines focusing on unresolved character arcs, new Green Lantern lore, and future DCU conflict setups.
Lanterns Season 1 may have ended, but it left several unanswered questions about the future of John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), Sinestro (Ulrich Thomsen), and the other characters in the DC Universe.
The series has officially wrapped up its lingering storylines, from the mysterious death of Hal to the remaining Manhunter in Rushville, Nebraska.
However, though Season 2 is yet to be confirmed, here are the five mysteries fans want answered after the Lanterns Season 1 finale, “Dirt and Stars.”
WARNING: MAJOR LANTERNS SEASON 1 FINALE SPOILERS AHEAD.
How Will Sinestro Resurrect Hal Jordan?

Fans saw a glimmer of hope for Hal’s return to life after Sinestro told John that he could do it “for real” if he were set free and allowed to forge a new, fear-based yellow Lantern.
However, John appeared to dismiss Sinestro’s offer. The villain then warned the new Green Lantern that charging the power ring would permanently erase Hal’s stored consciousness through the Halogram, and any chance of bringing Hal back would be gone.
John ultimately charged the ring using the new yellow, fear-fueled Lantern Sinestro made, seemingly wiping out Hal’s Halogram.
With this, Sinestro’s chance to resurrect Hal may be gone, but it remains unknown whether his intention was genuine or if he was just trying to manipulate John into freeing him.
So could Sinestro really revive Hal? This unresolved question may be answered if Lanterns gets renewed for Season 2.
What Does John’s Green Lantern Uniform Look Like

John finally accepts his fate as the new Green Lantern after using the power battery Sinestro forged to charge Hal’s almost-dead ring.
However, compared to an official Green Lantern working under the Guardians of the Universe or the Corps, he acts as a free agent and independent Green Lantern of Earth.
He even swears his own oath and takes flight for the first time using his power ring.
But despite this, John doesn’t transform into a Green Lantern wearing an official suit, leaving a mystery as to what his uniform will look like.
While John in a uniform may debut in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow, more of it may be seen in a potential Lanterns Season 2.
Does the Lantern Sinestro Forged Come with Side Effects?

Sinestro forged a new Lantern battery after Noah Macon (Shea Pritchard) broke him out of prison and brought him to the destroyed planet of Antaan to build a contingency plan for his protection after he was revealed to be another Manhunter.
Sinestro intentionally harnessed the planet’s toxic “fear gas,” which manifested as yellow streaks cutting through the Lantern, to prove that fear is an “evolutionary intelligence,” despite being viewed as a weakness by the Green Lantern Corps.
So, as this is unusual, it poses the question of whether it would have a side effect on John, knowing he’s charging his power ring with a Lantern that was literally made in a world of fear.
As Hal advised him, “Don’t be afraid of being afraid,” so by the looks of it, his fears and the effects of it may be revealed next season.
Will Sinestro Have His Own Corps in the DC Universe?

After John and Hal’s Halogram confront Sinestro in the foundry, they leave the villain behind, marooned alone on the desolate planet.
There, Sinestro makes a speech, revealing, “Fear, when harnessed correctly, can be the most powerful force in the universe.”
By the looks of it, this is a direct setup for his future formation of the Sinestro Corps in the DC Universe.
In the comics, Sinestro created his own Corps, composed of yellow-ring-wielding soldiers who use the yellow light of fear to oppose the Green Lanterns’ green light of willpower.
So, after forging a Lantern and living alone, there is nothing that can stop Sinestro from experimenting and eventually setting up his own people.
What Will Happen to Noah?

Noah is revealed to be a secret Manhunter created by his grandmother, Zoe (Poorna Jagannathan).
When Noah attacks John, steals the ring, and asks him to drive around Rushville, they have a conversation, with Noah asking John why he had to kill Zoe.
Noah eventually breaks down, expressing his desire to have a normal human life and asking John to kill him to stop his Manhunter programming.
Skeptical, John refuses to kill or arrest Noah, believing he has overcome his Manhunter nature by giving up the ring and trying to take the fall for Hal’s murder after it was revealed that his mother, Sheriff Kerry Kane (Kelly Macdonald), was responsible for it after learning of Noah’s true nature.
While it remains to be seen if the potential Lanterns Season 2 would once again be set in Nebraska, the door is open for Noah’s return, either to prove John wrong or to seek redemption.
