5 Minutes of Star Wars: Squadrons Gameplay Shown During EA Play Live

During EA Play live, the company finally showed off some Star Wars: Squadrons gameplay and it does not disappoint. While it's not the most unique-looking game ever, it does look like a lot of what fans love about those early space dogfight games, even though it's in first-person. There's always a chance that EA can put in an option to play these ships in third-person but it looks like fans won't mind, especially with the highly-detailed cockpits we'll be playing in.

We actually get a peek at the single-player mode of Squadrons, which lets players choose between a member of The Resistance or The Empire. That should grant a lot of Star Wars fans wish fulfillment since there are a lot of cool ships on both sides. The gameplay trailer also shows off a variety of ships in the game, all of which play a certain role in the multiplayer.

Fans will also be able to customize their ships and playable avatars, all of which can be earned by playing the game. As promised, this will be a game that won't be bogged down by those nasty microtransactions, which is pretty impressive since this is a multiplayer game. Even paid ones like Overwatch have loot boxes that players can pay for so it looks like EA really wants to make amends after that fiasco from Battlefront II.

This could be another hit for EA after Jedi: Fallen Order proved that they can make a pretty solid single-player game that focuses on a Jedi. Star Wars: Squadrons should be another interesting test for the company as they give fans another genre of Star Wars gaming they've been used to for years. Here's hoping they succeed.

Star Wars: Squadrons will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 2.
