Netflix’s Mindhunter Season 3 Put on Hold, Actors Released from Contracts

Netflix has a lot of great original content, and probably one of the most interesting shows on the platform right now is David Fincher's Mindhunter. With fans waiting for the third season, news has it that it could be a while before we see the return of agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench.

According to Deadline, the third season of Mindhunter has been put on hold indefinitely since Fincher has gotten busy with his schedule. Hence, the show has seen it fit to release the main cast—including Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv—from their contracts, freeing them to join other projects.

A Netflix spokesperson has come out to say, "David is focused on directing his first Netflix film Mank and on producing the second season of Love, Death and Robots… He may revisit Mindhunter again in the future, but in the meantime felt it wasn't fair to the actors to hold them from seeking other work while he was exploring new work of his own."

Seeing as there was a 2-year gap between the first and second seasons, I wouldn't worry too much about Mindhunter making a comeback. The show is admittedly great, and the cast is said to enjoy their work with Fincher. Hopefully, they don't get cast in something that would possibly stop them from coming back for another season of Mindhunter. I mean, we still have to find out how they catch the BTK Killer after two years of the show. Then again, maybe we could just get a huge time jump because BTK was caught in 2005, and the events of the show take place in the 70s.

For now, you can catch the first two seasons of Mindhunter now on Netflix.
