2 Magic: The Gathering Cards From Unstable Revealed

There's a new wacky Magic: The Gathering set that will be available in just a few weeks, and although the set isn't tournament legal, it's designed for casual fun drafts. The third Un-set will also feature a new set of basic lands illustrated by John Avon, and now, two new cards have been revealed.

The first is a reprint of a strange card from Future Sight: Steamflogger Boss. Wizards of the Coast officially revealed the card, and it features the same art by Warren Mahy. The new version doesn't have the Future Sight frame, and of course, it has the set symbol of Unstable, which is a wrench with an acorn-shaped hole. Check it out:

It looks like "Contraptions" will finally make sense in the new joke set. Speaking of Contraptions, the second card spoiled is an Artifact Contraption: Dogsnail Engine.

And here's the back of a Contraption card:

Well, it looks like Unstable will be full of Contraptions to play with. This seems to reflect the set's symbol. When lead designer Mark Rosewater was asked on his Blogatog page about Contraption backs, he confirmed that all the Contraption cards will share the same back design: "The back of Dogsnail Engine is the back of all the Contraptions - all 45 of them."

Unstable will launch December 8, 2017, and MSRP for each booster pack is $3.99 for U.S. stores.
