Wizards of the Coast has revealed the legendary Magic: The Gathering creature Commanders for the upcoming Kaldheim Commander preconstructed decks.
The black and green Commander is Lathril, Blade of the Elves:
Kaldheim will feature a lot of black and green elves in the set, and Lathril looks like a fun tribal Commander to have with the upcoming cards. Wizards already introduced the new elf planeswalker named Tyvar Kell.
And the blue and white Commander is Ranar the Ever-Watchful:
WotC hasn't revealed how the new foretell mechanic actually works but it probably has something to do with exile cards. It could be similar to the Suspend mechanic from the Time Spiral block, but we'll have to wait until Jan. 7 for the full official Kaldheim previews to kick off.
These two Commanders further confirm that Kaldheim will have tribal themes. We already know that Elves, Dwarves, Giants, Spirits, Clerics, and Berserkers will be in the set.
These two cards were first revealed in the leaked Kaldheim Commander packaging, which also revealed the names of the two Commander decks: Elven Empire and Phantom Premonition.
Kaldheim is set to release on February 5, 2021 for tabletop, and Jan. 28 on Magic Arena and Magic Online. Check out where to find all the Kaldheim previews here.
