Golden Globes Pays Carrie Fisher Tribute, J.J. Abrams Weighs In

The 74th Annual Golden Globes made a beautiful tribute to the late Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds last night. The mother and daughter passed away in December. This video below plays tribute to their legacy:

Carrie Fisher was a whip-smart author and humorist best known for her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars and her mother Debbie Reynolds was an acclaimed actress and businesswoman known for roles like her one in Singin' in the Rain. The 45-second video shows images from both Carrie Fisher and Debbit Reynolds' many roles in movies and television as well as videos of the mother and daughter having happy times during Carrie's childhood. The images are accompanied by a beautifully sung duet between Carrie and Debbie and they hug at the end.

Meryl Streep also paid tribute to Carrie Fisher in her speech at the Golden Globes. She quoted Carrie's own inspirational words: "take your broken heart, make it into art."

J.J. Abrams, who worked with Carrie Fisher when he directed Star Wars: The Force Awakens, praised the tribute after the awards show. "It was beautiful and not long enough," he said. "She was extraordinary and it's impossible to to really quantify the impact she had on not just legions of movies and books, but also her friends. He concluded, "The wisdom, the wit, the heart. She was like no other, so she's deeply missed."

I agree with Abrams that while the tribute was lovely, it's impossible to capture two amazing women in a short period of time. But we have to try. Feel free to leave your own comments in tribute to Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.
