Elite Dangerous to Pay Homage to Carrie Fisher in 2017 Update

Honors and homages to the late Carrie Fisher are never lacking. Tweets, both heartwarming and somehow inappropriate, have been published online as family, friends, and fans continue to remember life as Carrie had envisioned and embodied it.

In gaming, players in Star Wars: The Old Republic already has paid its tribute. This time, it's Frontier Developments who has made an announcement, confirming that Elite Dangerous will receive the update 2.3 with a little memorial shout-out to the late princess and general.

Announced over the official forums, Executive Producer Michael Brookes confirmed this with an announcement as well:

"Sad news indeed—a Fisher's Rest outpost will be added to the game in the 2.3 release."

This echoes a similar tribute when Leonard Nimoy passed away last year. Frontier Developments has yet to announce when it will release the update.

The Carrie Fisher homage is not the only thing coming for Elite Dangerous in 2017. The space trading and combat sim title is already set to arrive on the PS4 as a full bundle. That means those who would want to experience what the crowdfunding hit offers can already get the base game with all the DLCs and expansions in one go.

For now, those who are playing the game on Windows and Mac can expect the good news of a Carrie Fisher update.
