A recent report has revealed why Sony shifted the release of Venom: The Last Dance to an earlier date.

A few weeks ago, it was announced that the highly-anticipated threequel is now set to arrive in theaters on October 25, instead of its original date of November 8.

While an earlier release is good news for fans who have been waiting for what seems to be the last installment in the Tom Hardy-led trilogy, there are also questions regarding why the studio shifted its release to the crowded Halloween season.

A recent report revealed that Sony decided to move up the release date of Venom: The Last Dance to avoid being overshadowed by the US election.

Considering the discourse and headlines that will take place in the US election this year (scheduled on November 5), the studio wants to lay off all marketing efforts in the weeks before the election.

The explanation may not come off as a surprise for fans since it makes sense business-wise and they could also rule the box office for a few weeks before the next tentpole movie arrives.

The new release date also means that the film could be a good Halloween watch for the audience just in time for the spooky season, assuming that it will have mild horror elements again like the previous installments.

Some audiences could also watch the film as an escape from the election headlines in the weeks leading up to the inevitable day.

So far, Sony has not released an official trailer yet for the film. Fans should watch out for any news and promotional material in the months leading up to its release this fall.
