Marvel Animation has dropped the first in a three-part finale of X-Men ‘97!

With fans excited to find out where the series is heading as it closes its critically acclaimed first season, former showrunner Beau DeMayo drops some hints in a post on X:

DeMayo recommended watching episodes from the classic Animated Series that feature characters and storylines that can inspire or even affect the events of Tolerance is Extinction finale arc:

One Man’s Worth

The Master Mold sends an advanced sentinel called Nimrod to travel back in time and kill a young Charles Xavier before he can form the X-Men. While the robot appears to succeed initially, a group of time-travelling mutants intervenes to preserve the future.

Sanctuary

Magneto announces that he has created a space sanctuary called for mutants who want to be away from humans called Asteroid M. He and his group of Acolytes team up with the X-Men to free the slave mutants in Genosha and take them to the asteroid. However, an ally betrays him and tries to kill him, then afterwards threatens to destroy Earth.

Descent

James Xavier, an ancestor of Charles, is a friend of fellow doctor Nathaniel Essex, the man who would become Mister Sinister. As Essex tries to find a cure for his wife's mysterious illness, he becomes obsessed with enhancing himself to the point of no return. He flees while James attempts to hunt him down. James records his experiences in a diary that is passed on to Charles.

The Final Decision

In the Season 1 finale of The Animated Series, the X-Men and Magneto fight against the Master Mold, who abducted Senator Robert Kelly, took control of the Sentinels, and plans to replace the brains of world leaders, including Kelly with mechanical ones, so that it can take over and rule the world.
