Hot on the heels of a new spoiler about one of Negan's victims returning to The Walking Dead, there's now talk about the fate of another character who was closely tied to the aforementioned victim.
Sasha, played by Sonequa Martin-Green, is quite the character in as far as her growth from season to season is concerned, she wasn't originally part of the main gang. But she's come so far now, that the news of her being cast as the lead role in Star Trek: Discovery has gotten fans in quite a pickle.
Entertainment Weekly got in touch with showrunner Scott M. Gimple, who gave a few hints as to how they plan to juggle or position Sasha for the upcoming events in the series.
The common assumption is that, upon casting especially for a lead role in another series, it would be time to say goodbye to Sasha. Other characters from The Walking Dead series have seen this fate, including the latest seeming departure of Heath's Corey Hawkins for 24: Legacy.
But Gimple chooses to tease that maybe Martin-Green can actually juggle the two shows as she has managed with previous experience in the series.
"I've seen her battle a horde of walkers this year while simultaneously battling a stomach flu that would have had most people crying in the dirt. She can fulfill the duties of a Lieutenant Commander on a Constitution-class starship whilst battling walkers, Saviors, and whatever gets in Sasha's way. We've had to juggle before."
Despite the willingness to juggle with schedules, it's different when you're talking about lead roles. Of course, there's also the possibility that filming schedules and episode appearances may be arranged, if only to keep a character going.
But with Abraham's apparent return in the finale, it's not hard to picture Sasha being the big casualty to cap off the All-Out War against Negan and the Saviors.
The Walking Dead will be back on AMC on Feb. 13 for the continuation of season 7.
