Jared Leto Says This Is “The Only Villain More Infamous” Than The Joker

The Joker is perhaps the most infamous villain in the entire history of comic books. While other superheroes' antagonists have brought their own brand of sinister into each comic book narrative, there's probably no other villain who's best at doing crime and disturbing acts for the sheer fun of it than The Joker.

However, according to Jared Leto, who plays the Clown Prince of Crime in the upcoming Suicide Squad, there's one villain in the entire history of the world who's more infamous than his character.

In a recent interview with Total Film (via Digital Spy), the 44-year-old Academy-Award winning actor said:

The only villain who may be more infamous is the devil. The Joker is an icon, a legend, the baddest of the bad and seems to be having the most fun. Hard not to be a fan of that.

Well, we couldn't agree more. Other villains may have brought misery to the lives of their rivals, but there's no one more exceptional at pulling that off than Joker. The character has been in existence for over 75 years, and he's taken on many forms, portrayed by several talented actors along the way in cinema and in games. Until now, he's still relevant, and perhaps even more so than in the past.

He's in Suicide Squad, and one of the most iconic stories spotlighting the villain, Batman: The Killing Joke, is gaining much publicity as well.

Jared Leto seems to get this, which is why he's fully immersed himself in the character with method acting in order to prepare for his role in Suicide Squad. While his disturbing antics on set may be no match for the things the Joker has done in the comics, his Suicide Squad co-actors can attest to the fact that Leto is fully committed to his role and this has pushed them to get their game on.

Hopefully, when Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5, Leto's portrayal of the iconic villain does continue to keep the character's long standing tradition of evil.
