Black Lightning Joins the DC Lineup of CW Series

Another series is bound to get you hooked to The CW.

Following in the footsteps of The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow is Black Lightning which the network has just announced as a series pickup from the DC Comics, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.

Black Lightning was originally headed for Fox for development. The show will star Hart of Dixie alum Cress Williams, who will play the titular role. Black Lightning is a vigilante hero also known as his alias Jefferson Pierce.

The story will revolve around him going back into the world of fighting after he had given up his suit and hero alter-ego. It seems that Black Lightning will also have a daughter in the series, and she will be the catalyst for his return to justice when she becomes recruited by a local gang.

Black Lightning is set only until midseason. Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil are responsible for creating the pilot episode. They will be working alongside Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. There's no scheduled yet for when Black Lightning will air.
