MAPPA Responds to the Toxic Hate From Attack on Titan Fans

Attack on Titan Season 4 is a few episodes in and the show's final season has been a great treat. As the manga explores new heights and even introduces many Colossal titans, the series continues to give refreshing excitement to the fans. However, the series is not moving without any controversy.

After a new studio took over the animation of the series, some fans were not happy with how Season 4 is animated. Not only are the group of anti-fans unsatisfied with the change, but they are also committed to harassing the Attack on Titan staff each week. Whenever new episodes go live, the anti-fans would directly harass the staff.

For the first three seasons of Attack on Titan, Wit Studio handled the animation of the hit-anime series. In its fourth season, MAPPA has taken the mantle. When the first episode aired, some unsatisfied fans aired their opinions. Unfortunately, there were other fans who were not only voicing their opinions but went as far ahead as demonstrating toxicity against the MAPPA's staff.

If the fans were only voicing their discontent, it would have been acceptable as it is their opinion. However, the toxicity of the hatred has become so great that some anti-fans have become fixated to the point of harassing the staff via Twitter and other means.

This toxicity led a staff member from MAPPA to address the issue head-on. A Twitter user has helped to translate the staff member's tweet. The tweet was heartfelt and it was obvious that the staff are frustrated with the hatred.

The staff explained that they have poured their sweat, blood, and tears into the anime. The statement went on to say that the team is working on very short-time constraints, which are shorter than a normal anime. Part of the statement also asked people that they can voice their opinions but harassing the staff is unacceptable.

It is true that some people will not like how Season 4 is animated but there are many others who liked it as well. Personally, I believe that opinions are warranted but when it becomes toxic, that's when the problem comes in.
