The status of Henry Cavill’s Superman has been in jeopardy, making fans uncertain about the actor’s future in the DCEU. One of the latest updates in the DCEU has really caused some frenzy in the DC fandom after the confirmation of the J.J. Abrams’ reboot was reported. However, the actor is not going anywhere as his popularity is ramping up.

Recent rumors and speculations claim that Cavill is being considered to take the mantle of Captain Britain. With his role as Superman, the actor can certainly pull off the character really well. Insider Daniel Richtman shared on his Patreon that apparently, the actor wants a $10 million talent fee before he will join the MCU.

It is a staggering amount but Cavill’s status may contribute to it. When Cavill was announced as Superman in January 2011, it was a life-changing moment for the actor. It catapulted him into fame and made him into a household name in Hollywood.

Just to give you an insight, before Cavill became Superman, his last movie was Blood Creek (2009) where he was paid $56,000. When he was chosen to become the Man of Steel, his base salary for the role was $300,000. This $300,000 reportedly rose to $14 million, which included the bonuses and profit participation clauses in the contract.

When Cavill was chosen to play Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix adaptation of the popular game The Witcher, Cavill’s popularity skyrocketed even more. Cavill is one of the highest-paid actors on television, as he reportedly earns $400,000 for every episode of The Witcher. Presumably, he may have been given a raise for season 2 as the series is one of Netflix’s biggest original shows.

Marvel has the budget to pay that amount and cast him if they want to. However, the MCU is reportedly focused on bonuses rather than salary. In their biggest film, Avengers: Endgame, the core Phase One team of the Avengers were the only ones who got a flat rate of $10 million or above.

However, fans haven’t seen the last of him in the DCEU. There have been reports that in the summer of 2020, Cavill extended his contract. Moreover, Dwayne Johnson, who will play Black Adam in DC, will produce the film under Seven Bucks, which was founded by Johnson and his ex-wife Dany Garcia, who is Cavill’s manager. Garcia is also Johnson’s business partner.

Currently, there are no announcements or confirmations on Cavill joining the MCU. There is also no clear update from Warner Bros about the status of Cavill’s Superman in the DCEU. Take these details with a grain of salt as we wait for confirmation whether he will really join the MCU, as well as his possible return as Superman.
