Michael Keaton's Casting in Flash Said to Set-Up Batman Beyond Film

Michael Keaton had made headlines when it was revealed that he was in talks to star in the solo Flash film as his version of Batman, but rumor has it that it's actually setting up for something else entirely.

Talking to Sean Chandler Talks About, The Playlist's Griffin Schiller says a source has revealed that Keaton's appearance in The Flash movie is meant to be a set-up for a Batman Beyond film set for 2023. He further confirms that the deal with Keaton to be in Flash is very real, and Keaton's one request is that the Beyond movie needs to be directed by Tim Burton.

Of course, we should take this rumor with a grain of salt, but Schiller stands by his source, saying that they've given reliable information before.

Personally, while I would love to see a Batman Beyond movie, I'm not so keen about having Burton be the director. With the futuristic take on Neo-Gotham, I would rather have someone else take on the helm as compared to Burton with his signature aesthetic. I mean, if Burton really wants to direct, then by all means, he should take it on, but if someone with more passion for the project pitches in, I would prefer them.

We have no further details about this Batman Beyond film, but Keaton's appearance in Flash is said to be the franchise planting the seeds for a full movie.

The Flash is set to come out on June 2, 2022.
