Zombieland 2 Star Zoey Deutch Wants To Play Batgirl

People have their opinions on who should play Batgirl in the planned DC Extended Universe film, with actresses like Daisy Ridley and Kristen Stewart being fan-cast for the role of Barbara Gordon. But what are the chances that Zombieland: Double Tap star Zoey Dutch could don the cowl?

A fan recently tweeted about the possibility of Deutch being cast in the Warner Bros. movie that has been in development for some time. Interestingly, the Set It Up star confirmed that she wants to play the comic book superhero. Take a look at her tweet below.

Deutch certainly seems like a great candidate to play Batgirl. Although she is known for her comedic chops, the Vampire Academy star has also proven that she could be a versatile actress. It would be interesting to see her take on Barbara on the big screen. However, the status of the Batgirl movie has not been updated for a while so we'll need to wait for an official announcement from Warner Bros.

The Batgirl film was originally set to be written and directed by Joss Whedon. However, the filmmaker has since stepped away from the project. Bumblebee screenwriter Christina Hodson has been confirmed to take over in writing the script while Warner Bros. is looking for a female director to helm the film.

Deutch is currently working on the Netflix series The Politician. She will play the new character Madison in Zombieland: Double Tap, which is scheduled for release on October 18.
