Zachary Levi Pitches Himself for a New Project as the DCU's Sequel Flops

It’s probably human instinct to try to take on a new project when the previous one did not live up to your expectations. This must have been the case for Zachary Levi, who’s popularly known as Shazam in the DC Universe. Shazam! Fury of the Gods is almost a week out in the theaters, but the reception has not been good. That said, it’s highly unlikely to score a third movie to continue the character’s narrative. So Levi might have taken to Twitter to voice his love for a different show and share his wish to appear in the hit TV series.

“I absolutely LOVE “The Last of Us”! I’ve loved it since I played the first game. Then the sequel was, dare I say, even better! I would be so stoked to be in the series! What do you say, @Neil_Druckmann??” he wrote.

Some fans went along with the actor’s pitch and even suggested roles that he could take up. But others have taken Levi’s tweet as a hint to secure another job in a different franchise, given that his future with DCU is uncertain at the moment.

“After shazam 2 flopping at the box office, now Zachary Levi is begging for employment online. amber voodoo never misses!” wrote user @mehtabackupacc.

Unlike Levi, Rachel Zegler, who plays Anthea, one of the daughters of Atlas in the sequel, expressed her desire to return to the DC Universe, despite the current status of the Fury Gods in the eyes of the audience and critics.

“I would love to just come back in any capacity. It’d be fun. We got to wear such cool costumes and feel really cool all the time. I would just love to come back in any capacity. But if it’s exploring the origins of our mythology, I think that’s really interesting, but whatever Peter Safran says. Whatever Dad tells us to do.” Zegler told ScreenRant.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently playing in cinemas worldwide.
