As many are looking forward to seeing Your Honor Season 2, its lead star Bryan Cranston revealed it would be the series’ last.

Your Honor Season 2 has finally started its production, but it will also be the last time fans are about to see the hit Showtime legal drama.

The Last of Michael Desiato in Your Honor Season 2

Your Honor is originally coined as a miniseries. But as the show turned out to be a big hit, with 6.6 million viewers weekly for the first season, Showtime renewed the show for a second season.

Of course, Bryan Cranston returned to reprise his role as Judge Michael Desiato. However, fans are about to see the last of him in Your Honor Season 2.

“I am [currently] preparing for the second and last season of Your Honor, which is a limited series that I did for Showtime,” he told Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast via Deadline. “As they tell me, it got higher ratings than any other series they’ve ever had—and so, one more season of that.”

Michael Desiato is a respected New Orleans judge whose teenage son, Adam (Hunter Doohan), got involved in a hit-and-run accident.

From one mistake to another, the show’s official logline revealed it led to a “high-stakes game of lies, deceit and impossible choices.”

The first season ended in February 2021, while the renewal came in August.

Deadline also reported that the first season writer Joey Hartstone is now Your Honor Season 2 showrunner, replacing Peter Moffat.

Aside from Bryan Cranston, the new season will feature the return of Michael Stulhbarg as Jimmy, Hope Davis as Gina, Carmen Ejogo as Lee, Isiah Whitlock Jr. as Charlie and Sofia Black-D’Elia as Frannie.

The Success of Your Honor

According to Movieweb, the series’ debut season was the most-watched in Showtime’s history. Though it was originally set to end with the first season, the network made great efforts to continue its story and renew the show.

However, based on Bryan Cranston’s latest revelation, the series may only have enough story to continue until the second season.

"We were blown away by Your Honor ... by the power of Peter's storytelling, by the depth of Bryan's performance, and by the overwhelming reaction from our subscribers who watched in record numbers,” Showtime’s co-president of entertainment Gary Leving said in a statement during the show’s renewal.
