Young Sheldon Season 5 will finally return this week, and the premiere episode will shed light on George Cooper (Lance Barber) and Brenda Sparks' (Melissa Peterman) alleged affair.

In Young Sheldon Season 4 Episode 18, George and Mary (Zoe Perry) got into a huge fight. And George told his wife that he had been unhappy for a long time.

Mary didn't necessarily take George's complaints seriously. She sarcastically told her husband that she didn't know that he was that unhappy.

So, George decided to leave the house, and he went to a bar. While there, he met Brenda. Unfortunately, audiences still don't know what happened between the two because Young Sheldon Season 4 ended with a cliffhanger.

Luckily, fans will finally get answers regarding George and Brenda's alleged affair. However, there are also some hints that nothing happened between the two.

After all, CBS dropped the official trailer for Young Sheldon Season 5 and it shows George suffering from another heart attack.

After Sheldon's (Iain Armitage) dad was rushed to the hospital, his wife visited him there. To Mary's surprise, Brenda also visits George at the hospital.

Obviously, George will tell Mary the truth about what really happened between him and Brenda. But before this, Mary would most likely already have some assumptions.

George Will Cheat On Mary But Not With Brenda

Our gut feel is telling us that nothing happened between George and Brenda. But this doesn't mean that George will never cheat on his wife.

Since Young Sheldon is a prequel to The Big Bang Theory, adult Sheldon (Jim Parsons) previously dropped clues about his parents' failed marriage.

In one episode of The Big Bang Theory, adult Sheldon explained to Penny (Kaley Cuoco) why he always knocks three times on the door.

He said that he does this to make sure that he won't walk into anyone being intimate with each other. After all, while he was 13 years old, he walked in on his dad hooking up with another woman.

Since young Sheldon is 11 years old in Young Sheldon Season 4, he will only be 12 years old in Young Sheldon Season 5. This is one major clue that tells us that George didn't have an affair with Brenda.

But if the hit CBS TV show will be renewed for another season, it's highly likely for the writers to create an affair storyline for George. After all, he already expressed his unhappiness in his marriage in Young Sheldon Season 4.

While speaking with TV Line, series co-creator Steve Molaro said that they want to honor the stories that adult Sheldon shared about his family in The Big Bang Theory.

"Big Bang fans have heard Sheldon tell stories about his dad for years. We try to honor those stories but also like to find unexpected ways for them to play out. As we've learned in the first four seasons of Young Sheldon, these stories Adult Sheldon is telling us to come from a new perspective — one he has gained after becoming a father himself. Sometimes life gets complicated, but we're excited to explore these new chapters in the lives of the Coopers," he said.

Other than McClure, all the regular cast members are expected to return to Young Sheldon Season 5. This includes Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, and Annie Potts.
