Youn Yuh-Jung proved her age would never stop her from shining that she recently added Oscars as one of her accolades.

The actress, now 74, has over five decades of experience in the TV and film industries. With her performance, she successfully became a recipient of several award-giving bodies' recognitions – from Academy Award to Screen Actors Guild Award.

After recently surprising her country by becoming the first Korean to win an award for acting, the South Korean government plans to give back the contributions she offered in the industry.

On Thursday, the South Korean government confirmed that the actress would be awarded the highest national cultural medal following her success and notable efforts in the film industry.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, it will hand the actress the Geumgwan Order of Cultural Merit at the 2021 Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards ceremony. The event will be held at the National Theater of Korea.

Aside from the actress, Lee Jang-Hee and late producer Lee Choon-Yun will receive the Eungwan medal – the second-highest national cultural medal. Meanwhile, three artists – including Park In-Hwan – will score the Bogwan honor.

Actress Youn Yuh Jung followed the previous recipient two years ago – director Bong Joon Ho and actor Song Kang-Ho. The duo was granted the honors for their works on Parasite, which won No. 1 at the Cannes film Festival.

Youn Yuh-Jung's recent achievement will honor all the flicks she contributed since she began acting.

She began her career through the TV drama Mister Gom in 1967. She starred in Woman of Fire which led her to win Best Actress at the Sitges Film Festival.

Among her movies and films she starred in afterward include Be A Wicked Woman, Stepmother, and The Insect Woman. However, she lost her way when she and her husband, Jo Young-Nam, filed for divorce in 1987 after getting married in 1974.

Still, the actress did not give up and played supporting roles from the 2000s to 2010s. She appeared on Good Lawyer's Wife, The Housemaid, The Taste Of Money, Sisters Over Flowers, and Boomerang Family.

In the years after that, Youn Yuh-Jung received recognition from the most respectable organizations in the world. Recently, she also joined the 100 Most Influential People in the World by Time Magazine.
