Yellowstone Season 5 will be a tad steamier than the previous seasons. Piper Perabo, who plays activist Summer Higgins on the smash modern Western, says her character and Dutton patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner) are "turning up the heat" in the upcoming season.
John and Summer Deepen Their Love in Yellowstone Season 5
Perabo teased that her character's relationship with John Dutton will develop in the show's forthcoming season, speaking to Entertainment Weekly during the People and Entertainment Weekly Red Carpet Live: 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards pre-show.
"The love story is kicking into gear on Yellowstone. I know a lot of people watch it for the cowboys and the ranch, but I watch it for the love story," Perabo said. "We're turning up the heat. It's been a hard couple of years, let's turn up the heat for a minute."

Perabo debuted in Yellowstone Season 4 Episode 5 as Higgins, an activist who organizes a protest against what she calls "the existence of a state-sponsored police force that protects industrialized animal farming and the mass murder of millions of animals every year."

Her character was thrown into the deep end right away; Perabo's first scene begins with her kneeling in protest and ends with a confrontation with authorities that ends with weapons drawn before she's arrested. Later, John Dutton chooses to bail her out, and the two end up spending the night together, with Higgins later becoming a significant storyline in Season 4.
"It was so crazy ... I was like, 'Okay, this is a lot for Day One,'" Perabo told Taste of Country with a laugh before her debut on Yellowstone. "But it was exciting."

Yellowstone Season 5 Release Date
Yellowstone, directed by Taylor Sheridan, stars Costner as the Dutton patriarch, a man fighting to preserve the ranch in the family as they battle land developers, a neighboring Indian reservation, and a slew of other rivals.
Yellowstone Season 5 is not yet filming, but Sheridan told Deadline that filming will begin in May.
Filming for Season 4 was delayed due to the pandemic and production limitations across the country, and the show's fourth season did not launch until November 2021, but that doesn't mean we'll have to wait another year for more episodes.
Yellowstone Season 5 will show in two installments, the first of which will premiere this summer, according to the Paramount Network.
