The Greatest Showman is among the classic musical films that fans loved in the 2000s. Featuring Wolverine star Hugh Jackman, the musical flick highlights outstanding soundtracks that became an instant hit for the fans. Following the film's triumphant $430 global box office receipts, the talk of a sequel happened in 2019 but seemed unattainable now that Disney now owns the rights for 20th Century Fox.

In an interview with Variety, The Greatest Showman actress Michelle Williams talked about whether she's interested in doing a sequel. "I would make another one of those in a heartbeat. I wish they'd make a sequel....I really love that movie," Williams said. "My daughter Matilda sang those songs. My mom is still listening to that soundtrack. I love making things for kids that are full of joy and positivity."

In a recent interview with People, lead star Hugh Jackman also reacted to the possibility of doing The Greatest Showman sequel. Jackman said, "Listen, if you know anything about my filmography, you'd know I'm totally against sequels in every shape or form. No more than nine films! I'm always open, if they come up with a good idea. Yeah, I'm open!"

For now, sadly, there hasn't been any development with The Greatest Showman sequel. Although rumors swirled that a sequel was being developed back in 2019 but since the film is a 20th Century Fox release and Disney is no longer affiliated with Chernin Entertainment, it looks a sequel looks implausible at this point.

Nevertheless, fans would undoubtedly love to see a sequel to the multi-awarded musical hit. The Greatest Showman was nominated for three Golden Globes; Best Motion Picture, Best Original Song, and Best Actor for lead star, Hugh Jackman. More impressively, the film won Best Soundtrack at the Billboard Music Awards.

The Greatest Showman is available to stream on Disney+.
