She may be best known for To All the Boys I've Loved Before, but Lana Condor had also played the part of Jubilee in 2016's X-Men: Age of Apocalypse. With Marvel Studios set to reboot the franchise, Confor herself says she wants the chance to play the part of Jubilee the justice it deserves.
Talking to the Wrap, Condor explains, "I think that now is a really good time and I would really like to do [Jubilee] justice because she didn't have it five years ago and I don't think ever has… She's a fantastic character and now I think is the perfect time to give her what she deserves, so I would love to go back and do something with her."
While fans were happy to see Jubilee onscreen complete with yellow jacket and pink shades, she didn't really get to do much in the movie. Even the scene where she actually tries out her powers gets cut.
If anything, Condor is trying to keep herself in the minds of the filmmakers when it comes to a reboot. She said, "I haven't [heard anything from Disney], but I did see some of the filmmakers at [the Vanity Fair Oscar party] the other night and I was like ‘Hey… don't forget, don't sleep on her.'" While these reboots usually cast new faces, I'm sure Condor has a chance to give us a more memorable take on Jubilation Lee. Let's just hope she doesn't get too old before Marvel decides to bring the character back to the big screen.
No release date has been set for Marvel's X-Men reboot, but everyone is hoping it happens around Phase 5 in 2022. You can catch The New Mutants in theaters on April 2.
