X-Men: Dark Phoenix Won't Have A Stan Lee Cameo, But Rather A Tribute

While Stan Lee cameos have mostly been a Marvel Studios thing, he still makes regular appearances in Marvel Fox movies. With X-Men: Dark Phoenix set to come out later this year, director Simon Kinberg has confirmed that Lee won't be making a cameo in the movie.

Talking to CinemaBlend, Kinberg confirmed:

"We don't have a cameo. I'd rather say that than then keep it mysterious, out of respect for Stan. We do have some tribute to him, and it's something that obviously we weren't thinking about when we were making the movie because he was still very much alive. And he's been such a huge part of making these films over the years. He's had cameos; he's had input into the process of making them."

As for the tribute, I'm expecting some text before the credits start rolling, much like the tribute that Into the Spider-Verse paid for Lee last year. With this movie said to be ending the main X-Men franchise as well, I guess it would be fitting to have Lee send it off—depending on what kind of tribute the movie has in mind.

For now, it's said by the Russo Brothers that Lee's final onscreen cameo will be in Avengers: Endgame. A lot of people were hoping that it would be in Spider-Man: Far from Home, but at least no one has denied that yet. Personally, I was kind of hoping that Lee had given his blessing to the studio to keep adding him to the films digitally moving forward. That way, Lee may be gone, but he lives on in the Marvel films.

Catch X-Men: Dark Phoenix in theaters June 6.
