The recently-aired Episode 3 of X-Men '97 titled "Fire Made Flesh" revealed what happened to Storm after she left the team at the end of the second episode.
To recap, Storm lost her powers after being hit by X-Cutioner's de-powering radiation blast that was supposed to target Magneto while he was on trial at the United Nations headquarters.
After she learned that her depowering was permanent, Storm decided to leave the team to find a new path in her life as an ordinary person.

X-Men '97 Episode 3 Ends with Storm Meeting Forge
The final scene of Episode 3 of X-Men '97 saw Storm drinking in a bar in Texas while watching the news on TV as she tries to live her new life as an ordinary person.
She was suddenly approached by Forge (voiced by Yellowstone star Gil Birmingham) who offered his help to regain her powers.
The episode ended with a final shot of Storm seemingly showing her interest in Forge's offer.
This is certainly an exciting tease for Storm's future in the series since it suggests that she still has an important role despite losing her powers and it is interesting to see where they'll go with her in the upcoming episodes.
The introduction of Forge also suggests that Storm might be joining the X-Factor since the character is the leader of the team as established by his appearance in the original series.
The two characters also share a romantic history in the comics and there is a possibility that it will happen as well in the series as they now have cross paths.
Nevertheless, it is great to hear that Storm has a bigger journey ahead for her and a lot of fans are now excited to see what will happen for her in the rest of the season following Forge's offer.
