Wonder Woman 1984 was originally supposed to come out November of this year, but WB had decided to delay the film to give it a June 2020 release. Director Patty Jenkins was said that she was the one who wanted the movie to be moved to next year, but now she's shared that she actually wants the film to come out earlier.

Check her out here:

"I was like, ‘you guys, [the movie has to release] the summer of 2020,' and that was what I always wanted, and now I've just screened a version of the film, and I'm like, ‘Oh my god, can we move it back up again?'"

If the movie were to release in November of 2019, then Wonder Woman 1984 would have come out the same time as Frozen II, giving us two women-lead blockbusters in one month. Right now, there isn't anything to compete with WW84 with the June 2020 release date, but there is an untitled Pixar film set to come out around the same time.

Wonder Woman by far is the only successful DCEU film that focuses on a trinity character (the other two being Batman and Superman), and the pressure is on for Jenkins and Gal Gadot to deliver something spectacular. Only now are comic book movies getting made to have more representation for female characters, and Wonder Woman remains to be a beacon to countless little girls who are in need of a superhero they can call their own.

Catch Wonder Woman 1984 when it comes out on June 5.
