Wonder Woman 1984 Director Patty Jenkins Addresses Streaming Release Rumors

Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins has finally addressed the rumors circulating online that her upcoming DC project will now be released directly to streaming platforms. This comes following the reports that broke out earlier this week that DC and Warner Bros. Pictures have come to a decision to once again shift their release schedule due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Taking to Twitter, Jenkins wasted no time and debunked the rumor mill once and for all, saying that direct to streaming isn't even being considered. She also said that they're committed to pushing through with the planned theatrical release. However, she didn't address whether the film will also suffer the same fate as the Dune remake which is now being slated for an October 2021 premiere, or if Wonder Woman 1984 remains in its original release date. Quoting a fan on the micro-blogging site, she wrote: "Correct. Direct to streaming is not even being discussed. We are still 100% behind the theatrical experience for #WW84 and supporting our beloved theater business."

We're still in the midst of a global pandemic and it's looking more and more likely that the film top-billed by Gal Gadot could be on the verge of once again getting delayed just like other DC projects even though Jenkins and Gadot herself have yet to confirm it. Of course, there's still hope that everything gets better by the end of the year but don't be too surprised if WW1984 ends up getting pushed back yet again which is pretty understandable taking into consideration the stuff that's been happening over the last couple of months. I'm also against the idea of it going straight to streaming platforms because it's a film worth enjoying in the cinemas.

As it stands, Wonder Woman 1984 is still being advertised for a December 25 release.
