Zack Snyder's Justice League has got to be one of the most important comic book films of all time and the release of the project after a grueling 4-year movement pretty much proves that with the collective desire and enthusiasm displayed by fans, anything is truly possible. However, the question is, where do we go from here? With the unprecedented triumph of the 4-hour DC Extended Universe film, one would assume that the franchise will finally be on the right track but is that really the case?

It's not as easy as it seems and despite the film's strong online presence and the renewed demand for Zack Snyder's vision to live on, the future of the SnyderVerse is still a little problematic at this point and a lot of it has something to do with the fact that Warner Bros. doesn't seem too sold on the idea of pulling the trigger on the franchise.

Now, you may be asking, "what exactly is the SnyderVerse and why is the DCEU a convoluted franchise?" Don't worry because we got you covered. Let's break everything down about the so-called "SnyderVerse" and its actual chances of being fully realized on the big screen.

What is theSnyderVerse?

The "SnyderVerse" is pretty self-explanatory but to give casual fans an idea, it's basically Zack Snyder's original vision for the DC Extended Universe which kickstarted in 2013. According to Snyder himself, original plans for his interconnected franchise included a trilogy consisting of films Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. Just recently, the renowned comic book film director revealed that his SnyderVerse plans also called for Justice League to have at least two sequels.

Although Snyder didn't mention if they're part of his actual DCEU vision, it's worth noting that other standalone films like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam! are also originally part of his shared universe's official canon.

Will WB Restore the SnyderVerse?

The most obvious answer for now, at least, is no. According to WarnerMedia executive Ann Sarnoff, the production company is moving forward with their own plans for the DC Extended Universe which doesn't concern the SnyderVerse continuity. Several reports also came in that the franchise is set for a major overhaul via Ezra Miller's standalone The Flash film. Aside from that, it was also announced that a Superman reboot reportedly set in the DCEU is coming our way and shockingly enough, it does not involve Henry Cavill.

As of now, diehard DC fans are still tirelessly demanding the studio to give Zack the opportunity to push through with his original plans for the DCEU through a new online campaign called #RestoreTheSnyderVerse but at the end of the day, the fate of the franchise still lies in the hands of Warner Bros. executives.

However, there's evident reluctance on the part of WB and they've stated just recently that they will no longer succumb to pressure from "toxic" fans and will instead choose to move on and create a brand new direction for the DCEU. It's a messy situation, to be honest, but as a fan of the franchise myself specifically Snyder's body of work, I'm still hopeful that the SnyderVerse will get restored in the near future.
