Will There Be a US Office Season 10?

The Office US is officially the most binge-watched show during the pandemic, and it's no mystery as to why. But while it has been almost 10 years since the show ended, will there be a US Office Season 10? Let's find out...

Based on the classic UK comedy of the same name, the US "mockumentary" sitcom The Office US aired from 2005 to 2013, and went on to become one of the most successful shows in US history.

For the first seven seasons, the show stars Steve Carrell as the main character Michael Scott, the child-like, narcissistic and larger-than-life regional manager of the Dunder Mifflin Scranton branch.

Many of the shows characters, storylines, one-liners, and so much more, have become immortalized in the form of Internet memes, merchandise, and more. It's fair to say that The Office US gives Friends a run for its money.

The show is a mockumentary, which means that it's being told through the medium of a documentary, as a film crew follow the lives of Dunder Mifflin employees as the Scranton branch, on a daily basis.

This remains the format of the entire show, even after Michael Scott's tear-jerking departure. For the final two seasons, Ed Helms' Andy Bernard is the manager (at least where his busy Hollywood schedule allows).

However, in the two-part finale, which jumps forward one year later, we learn that the documentary about the Dunder Mifflin employees has aired in full, with the crew having returned for the finale to gather "bonus footage" for the DVD.

The episode wraps up many character arcs -- namely Jim, Pam, Ryan, Kelly, Andy, Creed, Dwight, Angela, Darryl, Oscar, and Erin. In fact, Jim, Pam, Kelly, Ryan, Creed, and Darryl are no longer Dunder Mifflin employees by the end.

The choice to end the show was a tough decision made between the cast and crew (the crew was actually comprised of the majority of cast members), as work schedules had begun to interfere with certain characters' screen time.

So, will there be a US Office Season 10? Well, it doesn't look likely, especially when you consider the reasons the show ended in the first place, which was due to increasingly busy schedules among the likes of Ed Helms.

Take John Krasinski too, for example, who in recent years has appeared in the A Quiet Place movies, which he writes, directs, and stars in. He also recently appeared in the MCU's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

While the idea of a revival or a reunion, whether one-off or long-running, is always possible, some things are best left untampered with, and creative problems had already started to arise in the last two seasons of the show.

Originally, fellow office-based US mockumentary-style sitcom Parks and Recreation was intended as a spin-off, but the creative team ultimately decided to keep it entirely separate to The Office US.

While many fans of both shows theorize that they are indeed set in the same universe, the fact that Rashida Jones stars in both as recurring characters throws any chances of a shared universe out the window.

Other spin-offs were considered over the years, such as The Farm, which would have seen the return of Rainn Wilson as Dwight Schrute, and Uncle Stan, with Leslie David Baker as Stanley Hudson. Sadly, neither saw the light of day.

Meanwhile, talks of a reboot which started in 2019 don't appear to have picked up any traction since. And let's hope it stays that way.

The Office US cast includes Steve Carrell (Michael Scott), Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute), John Krasinski (Jim Halpert), Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesly), Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapoor), Ed Helms (Andy Bernard), and Ellie Kemper (Erin Hannon)

The show has even featured well-known actors such as James Spader (Robert California), Cathy Bates (Jo Bennett), Catherine Tate (Nellie Bertam), Will Ferrell (Deangel Vickers), Rashida Jones (Karen Filipelli), and Idris Elba (Charles Miner).
