Will Smith Not Returning As Deadshot In James Gunn's Suicide Squad 2


It looks like Suicide Squad 2 has lost one of its big stars. Will Smith has decided not to reprise his role as Deadshot in the highly anticipated James Gunn film.

According to Variety, Smith will not be returning in the DC Extended Universe sequel. Sources have revealed that scheduling conflicts were the main factor in the exit from the Warner Bros. project. Nevertheless, the Aladdin star is leaving "on amicable terms between both sides with no hard feelings."

It certainly looks like Suicide Squad 2 will not be featuring any of the big stars from the first film. A previous report stated that Margot Robbie will not be a part of the sequel as well. Nevertheless, fans are hoping that the upcoming Gunn movie will still do well without Deadshot and Harley Quinn.

Gunn has previously been confirmed for write and direct the DCEU sequel. However, it has not yet been revealed which DC comic book characters will appear in the movie. For now, the cast of Suicide Squad 2 has not yet been announced. Stay tuned for more updates on the film.

Smith is currently working on the third Bad Boys film which has been given the tentative title Bad Boys For Life. He will also appear as the mischievous Genie in the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of the Disney classic Aladdin, which will premiere on May 24.

Suicide Squad 2 is currently scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
