- Quick Answer: Dan Levy told Anthony Mason that a Schitt’s Creek sequel "can’t" happen now, tearfully citing the loss of Catherine O’Hara as the primary reason.
Dan Levy has shot down the possibility of doing a sequel series to Schitt's Creek, especially in the aftermath of the death of star Catherine O'Hara earlier this year.
In the years following the show's conclusion, some fans have been wondering whether there are plans to do a sequel or spinoff of the hit series, considering its massive global popularity and ongoing relevance in pop culture. However, fans should not expect an extension any longer now that one of its main stars is no longer with us.
Why Schitt's Creek Will Unlikely Have a Sequel Series

In an interview with Anthony Mason on CBS News Sunday Morning, Levy visited the town of Goodwood in Ontario, Canada, to reminisce about the filming of Schitt's Creek.
When asked about whether there is a chance to do a sequel series, he shot down the possibility of doing it.
"No. Not now. You can’t," the star and showrunner replied.
However, Levy also admitted that he was "thinking about" doing a sequel series to Schitt's Creek, but he did not pursue it, especially in the aftermath of O'Hara's death.
"It’s tough. It’s tough being back. I didn’t think that I’d have quite an emotional reaction. [I was thinking about] a lot of memories… a lot of memories with Catherine. It’s what you have to hold onto is the memories of it all," he said.
Mason quipped in response, "And an incredible clip reel. An incredible clip reel. Listen, for someone who was not on the internet, she knew how to meme."
What is Schitt's Creek About?
Schitt's Creek follows a wealthy couple, video store magnate Johnny Rose and his soap opera star wife Moira, who suddenly find themselves completely broke. With only one remaining asset, a small town called Schitt's Creek, which the Roses bought years earlier as a joke, this once-wealthy couple must give up life as they know it.
With their two spoiled children in tow and their pampered lives behind them, the Rose family is forced to face their newfound poverty head-on and come together as a family to survive.
The main cast includes Dan Levy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Annie Murphy, Chris Elliott, Emily Hampshire, Jennifer Robertson, Sarah Levy, Noah Reid, and Karen Robinson. It lasted for six seasons and aired its final episode in 2020.
For its final season, it swept the comedy race at the Emmy Awards, including a win for Outstanding Comedy Series and acting wins for the main four cast members.
