Aidan Quinn is not expected to return in the highly anticipated sequel, Practical Magic 2, and fans have been wondering why he was not invited back.

After 28 years, the Owens sisters are back on the big screen later this year with the release of the sequel. While the first film was not a major box office success at the time, it ended up having a cult status in the years after. In the recent CinemaCon appearance, Sandra Bullock addressed Quinn's absence in Practical Magic 2 despite being a prominent part of the first movie.

In case you're not familiar, he played Sally Owens’ love interest, Investigator Gary Hallet, in the first movie.

The actress gave a vague explanation when she opened up about Quinn's absence in the upcoming sequel. "And if you know the original film, you can probably guess why," she said.

A few weeks ago, Quinn already confirmed that he won't be reprising his role in the sequel. He was also not sure why he was not invited back to play Gary Hallet again.

"No, I wasn’t asked; I would have said yes, but I wasn’t asked. Of course I would," he said.

Since Quinn will not be returning, fans are wondering whether this is a sign that Bullock's character will have a new love interest in the sequel, especially as they thought that Sally Owens and Gary Hallet would be living happily ever after in the first movie.
