It's not enough that Hollywood is already dealing with enough problems about AI—in recent news, Zurich Summit had just confirmed to debut the first AI "actress", Tilly Norwood, as the industry hopes to find "the next Scarlett Johansson."
Who is Tilly Norwood? Is This the Start of AI Hollywood?
AI "actress" Tilly Norwood garnered multiple talent agents, according to producer Eline Van der Velden, who made the announcement at the Zurich Summit, the industry strand of the Zurich Film Festival.
Tilly Norwood is the first AI "actress" to rise from the recently launched AI talent studio Xicoia, a spin-off from Van der Velden's AI production studio Particle6.
Van der Velden claims that the studios were "quietly moving forward with AI projects" and to expect further announcements about this development in the coming months.
"We were in a lot of boardrooms around February time, and everyone was like, 'No, this is nothing. It's not going to happen.' Then by May, people were like, 'We need to do something with you guys'," Van der Velden told Deadline.
Van der Velden added, "When we first launched Tilly, people were like, 'What's that?' and now, we're going to be announcing which agency is going to be representing her in the next few months."
Norwood appeared in her first role, a comedy sketch called AI Commissioner, where the AI-generated clip explored the future of TV development—in full AI transformation, which led fans to worry and mock the idea of it ever happening outside of Black Mirror's dystopian world.

Van der Velden told Broadcast International that they aim to have Tilly the "next Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman" as people realize their creativity "doesn't need to be boxed in by a budget" as AI has "no creative constraints" and can be "really positive in changing people's viewpoint."
However, people begged to disagree with this entire plan. Apart from putting dirt to Johansson and Portman's names and hard work over the years in the industry, they couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity at the bleak future unfolding before their eyes.
"Beyond bleak, but dying at putting all this work into creating an AI actress only to give her a dumbass name like Tilly Norward," one netizen tweeted, as another chimed in, "It was between that and Annie (short for Annihilate) Industry... speaking of goofy names for actresses, how were people in this movie tricked by an actress whose name was S1MONE."
Another added, "I promise you, no self-respecting actor in Hollywood is going to work alongside 'AI actress Tilly Norwood.'"
"No, we also have to talk about this f***a** obsession AI companies have with Scarlett Johansson omfg..." one netizen wrote, "Why is [her voice] the cadence and the persona, hello, wtf."
