Kentaro Miura’s Berserk is one of the most popular manga of all time. Aside from being a best-seller with over 60 million copies in circulation, it is also a hugely influential series.
Not only has it inspired the authors of Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, and Black Clover, but its influence is also apparent in games like the Dark Souls series and Final Fantasy.
Since the manga began in 1989, Berserk has gotten two anime series and one film adaptation. The first series was in 2D by OLM while the following projects were 3D animated works.
While these adaptations have some fans, they’re generally not held in high regard by most fans of the manga.
Thus, there was a lot of excitement when Studio Eclypse announced their Berserk: The Black Swordsman anime. This project was initially announced back in October with a short teaser.
According to the studio, this anime is going to be in 2D, and it aims to be a proper adaptation of Miura’s beloved manga.
Take note that this is a fan-made anime, meaning it’s not an officially licensed work.
Studio Eclypse has also released a new key visual for the series, highlighting their version of Guts in The Black Swordsman anime.
The reveal also comes with an announcement about the trailer's upcoming release.

Who Is Studio Eclypse of the New Berserk Anime?
Studio Eclypse is a fan-made animation group that consists of various artists who aim to create their takes on two popular anime.
The studio gained a lot of attention in September 2021 with the announcement of Attack on Titan: Requiem. This project will animate the fan-made alternate ending to the manga.
As it’s not an official work, this project has been in the works for some time now, though it will finally get its first episode in fall 2024.
Based on fan reactions, many are excited to see this Attack on Titan project, especially given how divisive the ending is for a certain section of the fanbase.
While Requiem is set to premiere later this year, there’s no word yet on a release window for Berserk: The Black Swordsman.
