Marian Brooks is anything but a stewardess of her ship. As she has led a life of being swept off her feet, she finds yet another romantic encounter she can't escape from. In The Gilded Age Season 2 finale, who does Marian Brook marry in the HBO series?
Who Does Marian Brook Marry in The Gilded Age?
While Marian Brook (played by Louisa Jacobson) has finally grasped onto a future career she longs to pursue, love and passion for teaching the poor, her life falls in shambles in romance.
Initially willing to elope with Tom Raikes (played by Thomas Cocquerel), the man left Marian heartbroken at the altar.
Instead of showing up as he promised (and practically begged Marian to do so), he finds a different girl, which makes him realize his 'true' intentions.
Or as The Gilded Age creator and writer Julian Fellowes told Entertainment Weekly, "When you are a handsome young man with a decent tailcoat, and you get into society, you are shown a whole way of life that you couldn't afford."
Fellowes added, "[Tom] suddenly realizes that actually, he has a choice. If he wants this way of life, he can have it."
The Gilded Season 2 Sets a Different Direction for Marian
Despite being distraught and utterly humiliated on her own wedding day, Marian Brook found herself walking into a complete trap of getting proposed to by her cousin Dashiell (played by David Furr).
Her lips said yes, but her eyes were a clear 'no.' Even though she had said yes to his proposal, she still contemplated whether she made the right decision or not.

Does Marian Brook End Up with Dashiell?
The Gilded Age executive producer Sonja Warfield explained how Marian Brook's life of being easily swept off her feet often propels her in unforeseen moments such as marrying a man she has mixed feelings about:
"Like, here's the thing: a woman in the 1880s, what was Marian going to do? She already screwed things up with Tom Raikes or Tom Raikes found somebody else. Aunt Agnes is literally saying to her, 'This is really good. Because you are going to live in this house for the rest of your life and then become a spinster and take Ada's place?' So it's really that fear of 'will I take what's in front of me or will I continue to have faith for what I really want? And do I go after what I really want?' I think all of us can relate to that."
So, who does Marian marry in The Gilded Age? Fans will be glad to know of Marian's big turnaround by the finale of Season 2.
Marian Reclaims Her Life in The Gilded Age Season 2 Finale
Instead of trodding along with the plan of marrying her cousin Dashiell, she puts her foot down and explains to him that they have different life aspirations. As Marian said to him, she was not the woman he was looking for.
Thanks to this, Marian couldn't be freer, as she told her Aunt Ada (played by Cynthia Nixon), now that she had broken off her engagement with him.
Upon this, Larry Russell (Harry Richardson) took it as an opportunity to finally tell how he felt about her, beyond being mere friends. He pulled her into a kiss as the future of potential The Gilded Age Season 3 dawns on fans.
