Looking for a way to stream the uncensored version of one of the most controversial anime shows this year? Don't worry! We have all the details you need.
World's End Harem (Japanese: Shuumatsu no Harem), the new science fiction anime series based on the manga written by LINK and illustrated by Kotaro Shōno, is one of the most talked-about shows in the Winter 2022 anime season, and it's easy to see why: its premise is controversial (just like last year's Redo of Healer), but the version available to stream on Crunchyroll right now has censored parts because of the anime's nudity and sexual content.
For those unfamiliar, World's End Harem is set in a world where the Man-Killer Virus has eradicated 99.9% of the world's male population. The story follows Mizuhara Reito, who's been in cryogenic sleep for the past five years, leaving behind the girl of his dreams, Tachibana Erisa. When Reito awakens from deep freeze, he emerges into a new sex-crazed world where he himself is the planet's most precious resource. He and four other males are given lives of luxury and one simple mission: repopulate the world by impregnating as many women as possible. However, all Reito wants is to find his beloved Eria who went missing three years ago. Will Reito find his true love or succumb to temptation?
The first season World's End Harem anime is complete. You can stream the episodes on Crunchyroll; the bad news (for some fans who despise censorship) is that you will have to find another way to watch the uncensored version and the version with "forbidden scenes". Based on the fans' comments on Crunchyroll, some fans are not happy about the censored version.
Episode 9 had so much censorship material, at one point, it almost covered the entire screen.
If you're wondering where you can watch these more mature versions legally, here's a guide for you.
Where to watch World's End Harem uncensored version?
Currently, fans in North America and Europe can watch the censored version of World's End Harem on Crunchyroll. However if you want to watch the uncensored version and the version with "Forbidden scenes", legally, the Blu-ray version of the anime is the way to go.
The Japanese network AT-X broadcasted the uncensored version in Japan, and the Blu-ray copy of World's End Harem was released last March in Japan, but as of October 2022, it's currently not available in the U.S. and other regions.
The official website of World's End Harem already announced that Volume 1 of the anime's Blu-ray includes the uncensored version and "Forbidden Scenes", which cannot air on TV.
The official Twitter account of the anime also made an announcement about the Blu-ray, which you read below:
The English translation of the tweet reads: "I want you to see, feel, everything in this world. Recorded in the forbidden <Super Harlem Ver.> With the addition of unbroadcastable mating scenes! Customers who make a reservation will receive a 'Daily Support Illustration Collection' (not for sale) on a first-come, first-served basis!"
According to the announcement, the release date of the Blu-ray of World's End Harem anime series is March 26, and it's still unclear if it will get a U.S. or U.K. release this year.
So there you go: your only legal options to watch the uncensored version of World's End Harem right now are:
- Go to Japan and watch AT-X's broadcast of the anime's uncensored version there.
- Purchase the Blu-ray release of World's End Harem, but you probably will need to have it shipped internationally unless they find a distributor in the U.S., Europe, or wherever region you're in. As of October 12, 2022, the Blu-ray of World's End Harem is not available on Amazon in the United States.
What's the difference between the censored and uncensored versions of World's End Harem?
Obviously, the sex scenes in the censored version of World's End Harem are toned down, blurring genitalia and women's breasts. Many would consider this anime borderline hentai as it features explicit sex scenes and nudity, but at least it's tamed compared to Redo of Healer, which also had an uncensored version.
The version you can watch in Crunchyroll censors the explicit images, and it doesn't include the "Forbidden scenes" the Blu-ray of the anime promises to feature. If you've read the original manga series, you probably have an idea what to expect in those explicit scenes.
