James Gunn’s DC Universe: Supergirl Debuts
James Gunn's DC Universe is already off to a great start, with Supergirl not only being played by House of the Dragon's Milly Alcock, but with plans to pay homage to the original DC comic book character altogether.
As teased in the ending of Superman, Clark's cousin, Kara Zor-El, had been out partying and drinking on red sun planets as a part of her birthday celebration, which would eventually tie it to her upcoming film.
Based on the original 2021-2022 comic book series, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, we'll be seeing Kara travel the galaxy with her trusty sidekick, Krypto, during which, according to the official plot synopsis (per Variety), she meets the young Ruthye (Eve Ridley) and goes on a "murderous quest for revenge." Think Guardians of the Galaxy, except it's a drunk Supergirl with her ridiculously strong dog and a revenge quest throughout the galaxy outside Clark Kent's territory.
Gunn previously teased that apart from "being a total mess" of a character with a "completely different background from Superman", Supergirl will be focused on a "space adventure", similar to how Guardians of the Galaxy involved their stories in the MCU.
