Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, an acclaimed Indian filmmaker who famously made the Shakespeare Trilogy, namely Maqbool (2003), Omkara (2006), and Haider (2014), and dark and dangerous love stories, recently revealed that his latest work, O'Romeo, allowed him to express his personal struggles through its main character.

The 60-year-old director made the conscious choice to show and explore his personal angst:

  • "I tried to add my own feelings of frustration in it. For example, there are people you can't confront in real life, so how do you express that anger? We can't say or do anything, so I thought of showing it in the cinema."

By channeling his own experiences with helplessness and suppressed anger into the narrative, the director has crafted a film that invites viewers into the 1994 Mumbai underworld, serving as a universal confrontation of those buried feelings.
