Will There Be a Monster Season 5?
So far, Netflix has yet to renew Monster for a fifth season, but that doesn’t stop co-creator Ian Brennan from thinking about who could be the subject of the next season. He told People:
- “God, there’s so many. We’ve talked about BTK (Dennis Rader). [He] is a fascinating one. They’re hard because somebody like him, Dennis Rader, he’s really not that interesting.”
- “He’s fascinating because he’s a devil. But the circumstances around a family man who had this horrific secret and the chase around him, I think would make a great season of the show.”
Brennan was referring to Dennis Lynn Rader, famously known by his pseudonym BTK, which stands for “bind, torture, kill.” The American serial killer and mass murderer killed at least 10 people in Wichita and Park City, Kansas, between 1974 and 1991. He continued:
- “Ted Bundy, Green River Killer. It’s tricky. There’s a million.”
Bundy was a serial killer, rapist, and kidnapper who murdered dozens of women and girls in the 1970s before he was convicted and executed in 1989. Meanwhile, the Green River Killer, or Gary Ridgway, murdered 49 women and girls near the Green River in King County, Washington, and pleaded guilty to the murders.
Brennan also mentioned Luigi Mangione, who was accused of stalking and killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024 and was found guilty in August 2026. If Mangione is a subject in a future Monster season, it would be the most recent "monster" covered by the show.
