Based on the 2020 novel of the same name by Araminta Hall, Imperfect Women's psychological thriller has had its differences between the writing and the 2026 adaptation.
While both stories still focus on the murder of their best friend and the dark secrets that unfolded after her death, there have been some changes from the source material.
For one, instead of London, the Apple TV adaptation is set in Los Angeles, which Kerry Washington noted is more of an "exciting place to tell a story like this", a place where people generally think it is all about "bright sunshine, bright lights, glamour, and beauty," whereas the series tells the darker potential of it.
