The classic manga and anime series Yaiba is getting a reboot treatment in the upcoming anime series Yaiba: Samurai Legend.
It will mark a major comeback for the Yaiba property which still has a massive fanbase even though it's been years since the manga published its last volume and the anime aired its last episode.
Let's explore everything we know so far about the reboot below.
What is Yaiba: Samurai Legend About?
In case you're not familiar, Yaiba centers on Yaiba Kurogane, a samurai boy who is raised in the forest by his father. When Yaiba moves to the city to become a legendary warrior, he counters a swordsman named Takeshi Onimaru, who ends up possessing a katana and plans to take over the world.
Yaiba embarks on an adventure as he takes on a quest to defeat Onimaru and end his plans as well as encounter some new friends and mythological figures.
We can expect Yaiba: Samurai Legend to take the same approach in its story while also giving it a contemporary spin that would appeal to the new generation of audiences who will become new fans of Yaiba.
The newly-released trailer (which you can see above) gave fans their first tease at the reboot, which seemingly retains the same retro charm of the original but with modern animation.
There is a possibility that they might make some changes and updates on certain elements from the original to reflect the current views and make it more appealing to today's audiences.
When is Yaiba: Samurai Legend Coming Out?
Yaiba: Samurai Legend is slated to premiere in April 2025 on ytv, Nippon Television, and other NNS stations.
The reboot is produced by Wit Studio, the same animation studio that is also behind Spy x Family and the first three seasons of Attack on Titan.
Fans should wait for more news and updates regarding the reboot in the coming months leading up to its premiere. The exact release date should be announced soon.
